J2 Retail Systems offers retailers extra protection New UPS outperforms market with 3 hours’ support Specialist manufacturer of PC-based touchscreens, J2 Retail Systems (J2), has launched an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) that gives a level of protection unmatched in the market. Whilst other EPoS systems provide a UPS of 20-45 minutes, the new unit available with J2’s 520 and 560 machines offers retailers the peace of mind that comes from up to 3 hours’ protection. This longer period of protection enables businesses to continue trading as normal, including doing cash transactions and receipt printing, with no data corruption or loss. Before power runs out, the UPS system will trigger a safe shut-down. Incorporating latest battery technology, the unit withstands temperatures up to 50 degrees C, making it ideal for retail and hospitality environments with hot food displays. “UPS support is the icing on the cake for retailers who use our J2 520s and J2 560s,” says J2’s Managing Director, Moray Boyd. “Competitively priced, it is an affordable investment for businesses that rely on faultless service to keep their customers promptly served.” J2’s latest machine, the 560, has been welcomed with open arms by food retailers in particular. As a fanless machine, it is ideal for hygiene-conscious environments. The diskless model also comes without moving parts, which gives exceptional reliability. As an added bonus, the 560 offers a choice of mounting options. Many retailers opt for pole-mounting to free counter space. Because J2 touchscreens are easy to use, counter staff enter sales accurately. This contributes to the uplift in trading which retailers commonly experience when moving to J2 systems from old-style cash registers. J2 is the dominant supplier to bakery retailers and is used by Greggs, Bakers Oven and several other regional chains.
